I had an existing Google account so that step was already taken care of. Creating the avatar was fun; it was kind of like creating a character of yourself for that game Guess Who? The talking part is a bit strange though...
I think using a blog would be a great way to get anonymous feedback/peer review during the writing process since much of it is set up like a word processor already. Maybe we could use it in science to post experiment procedures and students could post their hypothesis, observations, and conclusions to the related experiment. In math maybe we could address "reasonableness" for a certain problem's answer when doing problem solving; making students CONNECT with other people's thought process.
Sounds like you have had some interesting experiences already in the 2.0 world!
ReplyDeleteA blog and a wiki are actually 2 different resources, but are similar in that they are bothplaces to share and comment! You will be looking at wikis later in 11 Tools.
Using blogging across the content areas is a good way to integrate technology in the learning that is taking place. Whether the assignment deals with language arts or math and science, blogging serves as yet another opportunity for your students to continue to synthesize their learning...great idea!
ReplyDeleteI have to agree, when I created the avatar, "Guess Who" immediately came to my mind. I couldn't help but picture my students laughing and being silly while creating one themselves. As you stated, you could use blogging to post science experiment procedures in your classroom, I could see myself using it to post KWL discussions on various topics.
ReplyDeleteHi Tiera, I can tell you're a "natural" at blogging! I thoroughly enjoyed your work. I agree, this is a great tool for sharing ideas and learning from one another.
